Where is December going???

Luckily I can tell what has been going on by looking in my Holiday Journal. And it is just the beginning of holidays for us at our house.

With the help of my wonderful hubby I have updated my scraproom. Before, I was running out of space above one of my work areas. As you can tell, there was just no place to put things. Plus, the way that the hutch sat on the desk also obstructed the work area.

The end result...Pete was so helpful in getting these up.

I just can't get over how much cleaner it looks. I love them! Thanks for looking!

Winter weather...

December 2nd: In many ways I would love to say it is a Winter Wonderland outside, yet in many ways I am thankful that it is NOT! Today's temperature is above freezing, which is very warm this time of year. This also means...less clothing, less shovelling, less time to warm up the van, less teeth chattering...and of course no snow sticking around. I don't mind this weather at all, and of course I am going to look at the positive no matter what the weather may be!

December 1st is finally here...

and this means that I have officially started my Holiday Journal!
December 1 reads:
Oh the most wonderful time of the year has begun in the world of Christmas journals. Many of us all over the world are tuned in to Shimelle.com to share Christmas and/or holiday stories. It's interesting to think that many of us come from all walks of life (and areas of the world) yet we all feel the same passion for this project. So diverse, yet bound by a common passion.I don't feel compelled to focus on a manifesto, but I am excited to a lot of writing. Perhaps this will bring some inner peace, or at least part of my journey during this holiday season. Some days I may have lots to say, and some days maybe little (although I doubt it). Regardless, my hope is finding time for inner peace and reflection. I am so happy to have my journal prepared, and now to simply write.

Twas the night before...

...Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas!
I am so excited for the first prompt to come from Shimelle's website, which in North America will come sometime tonight!!! This is the most prepared that I have ever been for my class, so this will give me more time to write, write, write!
This is the first year that I have also pre-done my numbers, you can see them on my Christmas trees.
So far, I have pre-done 40 (two sided) pages.

Well, blogging two days in a row. This really is a record, but it has a purpose. Just a little more evidence of what is completed on my Holiday Journal so far. I think I have about 20 out of my goal of 50 prepared!
I am planning to work hard to get more done this week-end and Shelley's crop.

The proof is in the ....pudding?!?

Okay, maybe it isn't time for Christmas Pudding quite yet, but here goes a better attempt at showing my work to others!
I know that I am terrrible for writing, writing, and writing, but not publishing pictures to my favorite websites. This season I am determined to change that. Otherwise, you really might think that this is all just a bunch of Christmas bull!
Yes I am happy to join JYC for the fifth year now. And here is proof of some of the hard work I've been doing to get ready.
Doesn't my scrap area look all eclectic, like a "Tim Holtz" type craft area...well that's good, really it is just a mess! Amidst this mess here is my great new fun cover for my 6X12 Holiday Journal.
Of course I was anxious to get started, and TSR was able to help out with giving journal holiday words! Today's word is "JOY"! Here is the page I have started for it. I will have 2 words to work with this week, so I am taking a bit of time to think about this one.

Just so my Christmas stash doesn't get out of control, I have it all contained in this new handy dandy folder that I recently purchased!

Christmas Crafting

Mmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm! Probably as delicious as Christmas Baking is Christmas Crafting. Today at Shimelle's website we start a full week-end and season of crafting. I am so excited to begin, as I really already have begun! Yes several pages are prepped, and some even journalled on! I couldn't stop myself from getting started. I know there will be days later on in the season that will be more hectic, and may not be time to get at it daily.

I am excited to let the fun begin!

First Snow

Ugh! Even though I am excited about the holiday season approaching, I am not about the condition of the roads tonight due to our first snowfall.

Speaking of holidays, I have begun putting together my 2011 JYC (Journal Your Christmas). So far I have 14 pages (28 sides) completed and ready to go! I can hardly wait!

October 28th, 2011

I think it is pretty funny, that as I revisit my blog, I notice that the pillows on my blog page are similar to those on my couch right now. Patterns and circles are all over my couch in the same design, except in earth tones.

I know I don't have much to say (which is a surprise for those of you that know me personally). Thanks for popping by to visit, I hope I can update this sooner than later.

Cleansing In April

This is just such a good month to cleanse yourself. Every April I watch the showers come and start to wash away all the debris and dirt left from under the snow. This month I want to really focus on cleansing a variety of areas of my life...my home, my spirit, my mind, and get rid of parts of my life. Spring is a time of rejuvenation, and before I can rejuvenate, I must do away with the old unnessary CRAP!!!

A new season to begin...

I am filled with anticipation today, to begin an exciting challenge that I have never experienced before...being a moderator at The Scraproom. It officially starts tomorrow, and of course I will have to scrap about my feelings and experiences on it! Stay tuned!

Your favorite season?

On a day like today, I am starting to question my favorite season. As a youngster growing up, I don't think I really gave it much thought, but I would undoubtedly have to recall that it was SUMMER. Growing up in a small town on the prairies of Canada, we were fortunate enough to have huge swimming pool in our town, and blessed with a family cabin at a lake only minutes away. So between the two, our hot, dry summers were full of lots of water activities. I still LOVE summer, don't get me wrong, but I have to wonder if spring is giving summer a run for the money this year.

Spring, to me now as a noun - thing - season, to me really is starting to feel like a verb - spring - move into action. Perhaps this is because after a long, cold, winter of practically hibernating, I feel like I am springing into action.

Spring cleaning is on my mind as I sping into action as well. We have been in the house now almost 3 years (come July) and I cannot believe the wear and tear that one family makes and how quickly things become tired looking. Thus, this is the year I have proclaimed to do some deep spring cleaning. So far, I have mastered one drawer! Not just any drawer though...the main cutlery drawer. I can't underestimate this drawer, as it is the one with the highest traffic in our home.

My goal for spring cleaning is to have the house cleaned before May. Wish me luck. It isn't that I dislike cleaning, it is that I sometimes lack the attention span to do it for long periods of time. So, I figure in the next 2-3 months, if I pick away at things, I should be able to deep clean the whole house before I have to open up the cabin in May.

Wish me luck!

The LAW of Happiness...

Yes check it out here:

I love reading what I want to read...not because I HAVE to read for this assignment and that.
So on my latest important trip to the drug store(wasting time between doc appointment and chauffeuring children from school), I came across this book. As I wanted to write about it on my blog, I recalled that it was called "The Secret of Happiness". However, once I fetched it off my nightstand and read the title..."The Law of Happiness", I knew it must be official...because it says its the law!!!
I will have to do some research into this Cloud guy, and see what his credentials are, but so far I am finding the book right up my alley! I am always intrigued by the concept of happiness, wellness, well-being, and so naturally, when I saw this book, it caught my eye. Of course, what makes it even better is that I don't HAVE to read it...I can read it because I want to!
PS Happy Sunday!
